Lab-Grown Diamond Rings: Express Your Pure Love By Design

With the same timeless elegance and beauty of mined diamonds.

Traditions

The first lab-grown diamonds were created by Howard Tracy Hall and Herbert Strong in 1954, ending a centuries-long obsession with creating diamonds using artificial means which began as far back in the 1700s.

Lab-grown diamonds were not recognised as real diamonds until 2018.

Qualities

Lab-grown diamonds are produced using either Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) or High Pressure, High Temperature (HPHT) methods, the results of which are absolutely impossible to tell apart from each other or from mined diamonds with the naked eye.

To dispel a prevailing myth, lab-grown diamonds are also unique from one another (the same way fingerprints are) because of their inclusions, or particles which are enveloped and trapped within the diamond as it is formed. Both natural and lab-grown diamonds have inclusions which affect their assessment for clarity, which is one of the four C's together with Colour, Cut, and Carat Weight used for evaluating both diamond types.

Customisation

Because natural and lab-grown diamonds share identical physical characteristics, customising a lab-grown diamond ring in terms of cut, shape, setting, and style is done in much the same way as engagement rings using mined diamonds.

Inspection

Unlike quality control for natural diamonds, which are formed in the earth over millions of years, the inspection of lab-grown diamonds includes close monitoring of their formation process, from the raw materials used to the final gems. Once the diamonds are created, each of them undergoes a minute inspection for imperfections using scanning electron microscopes and spectrometers.

The diamonds are then sent for grading and certification to an independent gemology lab. Gemology experts grade lab-grown diamonds in terms of the 4C's just as they would with natural diamonds, making sure only the highest quality diamonds are used to create your perfect piece.
